Dear Member,
What's happening in 2012
We have now finalised the 2012 programme of courses and expeditions that Lasham will be running, so here's a heads up on what we have planned for the coming year.
Winter Bronze C Lectures
From the beginning of January on Sunday evenings at 5pm in the brown elephant, we will be running a series of winter lectures to help you study and pass the Bronze C ground exam. These lectures are principally aimed at people going through the training system but may also be of interest to anyone who did their Bronze a long time ago and would like to refresh on some subjects
January 8th - Airlaw
January 16th - Navigation
January 22nd. - Principles of flight
February 5th - Meteorology
February 12th - Aircraft structures and daily inspection.
Jaca Expedition - A few places still available.
The list has been open for a week now and is filling up fast and currently there are still a few places remaining on the First and Second weeks of the spring expedition.
5th - 10th March
12th - 17th March
Please contact the office or myself for further information or to book your place.
Advanced Courses in 2011
Following on from the success of the advanced courses in 2011 we will again be running courses that take you early solo up to flying cross country and racing in competitions. Full details of the course dates can be seen on the Lasham web site in the club calendar section.
<http://www.lashamgliding.co.uk/Public/ClubCalendar.aspx>
This year the majority of these advanced courses will be run by my Deputy CFI, G Dale and as many of you who have been on one of "G" courses before will know, his skill at running cross country soaring courses is second to none.
As it proved to be popular in 2012 we will again be running a competition training course running in July. This course aims to show you how to race cross country, play competition tactics and become the person standing up front giving the day winners speech.
All booking for the advanced courses should be made through the office and as in previous years, if the demand is high we will lay on extra courses to satisfy members and visitors needs.
Colin Watt.
Chief Flying Instructor.
