Targeted towards completing the cross-country endorsement and working through the requirements for the Silver badge, you will be flying dual cross-countries in the ASK 21, Duo Discus or DG1000 where cross-country techniques can be learnt and practiced with the confidence that an experienced pilot gives. Again although we recommend you have access to a glider it is not wholly necessary. A Grob 102 glider can be booked for those requiring it subject to availability. These skills can then be put into practice during your silver duration, distance and other solo cross-country flights.
Field landing training and refresher flying can be undertaken in our two-seater motor glider with additional navigation training as required.
Classroom work will include morning briefings and post-flight discussions, cross-country techniques and soaring advice, map preparation and navigation, airspace and route planning, weather interpretation and task-setting considerations as well as other topics subject to requirements.
We would hope to run mutual retrieve arrangement so no crew is required unless you want to bring one along but as a minimum you would require a car capable of towing.
