Glider - Flying Start
If you would like a little more than one glider flight then book a Flying Start. The Flying Start is a series of two glider flights, taken consecutively, usually taking overall about two hours.
Either option makes a sensational Christmas or birthday present and are available during the day, seven days a week (please book in advance).
About your flight
On arriving at the club you will be met by your instructor who will run through a few simple safety procedures before being taken to the launchpoint for your flight. Once at the launchpoint you will be shown your glider and the instructor will point out the various controls and instruments that will be used or referred to during your flight.
Each flight is actually a gliding lesson and once in the glider you will be launched behind one of our 'Tug' airplanes up to 2500ft. Your instructor will be in control so this is your opportunity to enjoy the view across to the Hampshire countryside. Once at 2500ft the tow rope will be released and you will be invited to take the controls under the expert tuition of your instructor. You will be shown how the controls work and the effect on the glider. Your instructor has a duplicate set of controls and is able therefore to ensure your safety at all times.
Please read the Mandatory Safety Notes
After your flight
When visiting the airfield for a glider flight you automatically become a temporary member of Lasham Gliding Society for three months and as such you are welcome to use our facilities during that period.
Our restaurant and bar are open every day throughout the summer for meals and snacks. Large groups can be catered for by pre-booking through our catering manager. Subject to availability on the day, additional winch or aerotow launches may be purchased at club rates. You can, of course, come back and fly at club rates at any time during your trial membership period.
You will also receive a Certificate as a memento of your flight.
Join as a full flying member within your trial membership period and the usual Entrance Fee of £72 will be waived
