Glider - Compass Flying

Every weekend day during the soaring season one or more two seat gliders are available to members for Compass flying,

Compass flying is an opportunity for novice pilots to experience the thrill of cross-country flying with an experienced cross-country pilot. The P1 will not necessarily be an instructor but he or she will be an experienced cross-country pilot approved by the Chief Flying Instructor.

A list of available slots can be found on the notice board in the CFI's office. The number of slots are limited so get your names down early.

Obviously the flight is subject to the weather on the day as it will need to be suitable for flying cross-country.

Second Seat Flying
In addition to Compass flying there is quite often a spare seat available with members who own two-seat gliders. This is another excellent way to get to see how cross-country flying is achieved.
