On Saturday 7th September, Lasham Gliding Society wrapped up another fantastic summer season with a 1940s-themed hangar party, welcoming over 250 guests to the airfield for a night of celebration. Attendees embraced the theme, dressing in true 1940s fashion, transforming Lasham into a scene straight from the era, reminiscent of its historic roots as a wartime airfield.
The evening began with an exhilarating warbird air display, featuring a Hawker Hurricane IIb and a Messerschmitt Bf108 which thrilled the crowd and set the tone for the night. Guests gathered at the Lasham Clubhouse to enjoy a glass of Prosecco before moving to the hangar, decorated with vintage 1940s posters.
The Runnymede Jazz Orchestra provided live music, getting everyone onto the dance floor as the night continued. Guests also enjoyed a delicious buffet prepared by our in-house café, The Flight Deck while our in-house bar, 51 Degrees North, kept the drinks flowing throughout the evening.
A special thank you to club member Nicki Marchant for organising such a memorable event that perfectly closed out our summer gliding season. Here's to another successful year at Lasham!
