Lasham Regionals Competition 2024

Lasham Regionals Competition 2024

Lasham Gliding Society held its highly anticipated annual Regionals Competition from 17th to 25th August, with great success. The event featured cross-country races, with pilots completing pre-planned tasks, including the longest set at an impressive 384km.

With 45 entries, consisting of both individual pilots and teams, the competition saw six out of the nine available days in the air. Pilots faced mixed weather conditions, with some challenging flights in strong winds.

A big congratulations to Andrew Hall, who secured first place flying a JS1c - 18m, amassing an impressive 3912 points across the competition.

The event was made possible through the dedication of volunteers, including the scoring team, tug pilots, and the hardworking green team responsible for launching the gliders. Special thanks go to competition director Roy Pentecost for his leadership and coordination.

Lasham Gliding Society will be hosting two competitions in 2025: the Standard, 15m, and Open Class Nationals from 24th May to 1st June, and the Regionals from 12th to 20th July.

We look forward to next year’s event and welcome all competitors to join us for another exciting season of gliding!
